Biography

Waheed Babatunde Yahya, is a Professor of Statistics in the Department of Statistics, Faculty of Physical Sciences, University of Ilorin, Nigeria with more than 20 years of university teaching, research, administrative experience, and community services.

He has served as the Head of Department, Member, Senate Research Grants, Campus Security Committee. His areas of research interest cut across several areas of Statistics and its applications which include Big Data Analytics & Data Mining, Computational Statistics & Bayesian Inference, Biostatistics, Statistical Genomics, and Statistical Modelling.

Prof. Yahya has to his credit more than 100 publications in reputable national and international outlets covering journals, edited conference proceedings, books, and book chapters. He has successfully supervised 11 Ph.D., 6 M.Phil., 67 M.Sc. theses/dissertations.

Prof. Yahya is the National President of Professional Statisticians Society of Nigeria (PSSN), and member of some national and international professional societies which include NMS, NSA, ASE (USA), ATINER (Greece), IBS-Nigeria group.
